While mobile sites are fast transitioning to advanced platforms like HTML5 and Adobe AIR, Adobe is halting itself the development of flash player on Android run devices. Going by the post on Adobe’s official blog, the company has decided to stop developing Adobe Flash Player for versions after the Android 4.0 OS smartphones.
Adobe, in their attempt to halt the development of their Flash Player for Android, is altering settings on Google’s Play Store, such that they are able to limit the number of devices downloading the software. As a result, Android devices running on a version of the operating system beyond 4.0 will be barred from downloading the Flash Player from the Play store. The reason given for this move is that Adobe is unsure of allowing users of Jelly Bean to download and continue using the software since it hasn’t invested resources in ensuring that the Flash Player will work efficiently on the latest version of Android. They will have to test the software on a number of Android devices in the market to be certain that the software is functioning correctly on the Jelly Bean OS.
Download and install Adobe Flash Player on your Android. Adobe has removed its official support for Adobe Flash Player, you can no longer download Adobe Flash Player from Google Play Store. Flash Player enables you to enjoy flash videos, games on your Android based device as you do on your desktop and provides a rich web browsing experience.
Following Adobe’s decision, a user, upon upgrading to Jelly Bean, will not be able to gain access to the certified update to Adobe Flash. Since the Flash Player will not be removed off devices that have been upgraded, it will still be functional on Jelly Bean. However, the manner in which it will deliver function is unpredictable. Therefore, Adobe believes it is best to get rid of the software from the phone upon upgrading. Devices that already have the Flash Player installed in them will receive security updates from Adobe.
Adobe plans to utilize their resources in the development of the Adobe AIR platform and in addition to offering Flash on personal computers, focusing on security and fixing bugs in the software. They are already offering mobile video solutions to developers on the Adobe AIR platform. ESPN currently uses Adobe AIR to live stream videos from through the WatchESPN app on the Play store. The Adobe AIR platform has also been used in apps like Snagfilms and iTV Player. Users are not limited to premium video applications alone. Apps like Dropcam enable users to stream live videos from a locations where a Dropcam has been installed, allowing them to monitor their homes.
However, minus Adobe Flash, Android users now face the same problem as iPhone users. Therefore, in order to offer a more mobile-compatible version on their devices, sites are not now shifting over to using HTML5.

So let’s begin. Oh, but before that, we’ve already covered how to use Flash on iPhone. You might want to share that with an iPhone owner you know.

Activate Installation from Unknown Source
First of all we will have to activate third-party app installation on the Android device. Once you have activated this feature you will be able to install Android APK files from sources other than Play Store. To activate it, open your Android device settings and navigate to Security Settings. Here look for the option Unknown Source under Device Administration option and put a check on it to activate.
That’s all, you can now install Android applications on your device using APK files available locally. Please be careful when you install apps from third-party source. We take no responsibility of any malware creeping into your device due to irresponsible usage. You are warned!
Note: Please note that Flash is not officially supported for Jelly Bean devices and thus users might notice some issues while loading pages. These issues are not likely to happen and most of the users have reported smooth experience. But just so you know.
Installing Flash
To install Flash on your Android, you will need access to a computer. Download the Flash APK file from this link on your computer and transfer the file to your device using a cable, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection. This modified APK file is provided by stempox, a recognized contributor on XDA and you can access the full discussion thread here.
Having done that, simply run the file on your Android and install the application. If you have activated installation from unknown source, the setup will proceed smoothly.
Using Flash

If you are a Chrome or stock Android browser user, I am afraid you will not be able to use Flash features in the mentioned browsers and will have to switch to Dolphin HD or Firefox. The former browsers have removed the native support and hence they can’t detect the installed Flash Player. Sometimes when you visit flash-enabled websites on Firefox and Dolphin browser, they will not be activated as soon as the page loads but will be shown as a gray patch. To activate the Flash control, you will have to tap the box and only after that Flash will load from the server.
This feature makes sure you don’t waste your bandwidth when you actually don’t need it.
Conclusion
So that was how you can install and use Adobe Flash on your Android devices running on Jelly Bean. Whether or not you miss Flash depends on the type of browsing you do, but this is a useful workaround nonetheless and you’d know what to do the day when you need Flash direly on your new Android.
